DHFR inhibitors, including riluzole, 6-(trifluoromethoxy)-1,3-benzothiazol-2-ylamine, 7-((2-thiazol-2-yl)benzimidazol-1-yl)-2,4 diamino quinazoline, and proguanil, which specifically bind to the folate-binding pocket of DHFR, have been identified for suppressing infections caused by L. major, T. brucei, Staphylococcus aureus, and the malarial parasite, respectively [31,32,33]. Here, DHFR is linked to infection.
