Oxidative stress activity based on the level of 8-iso-PgF2α; pro-inflammatory activity based on tumor necrosis factor-α, its type I soluble receptor; and C-reactive protein levels and the effects of antihypertensive treatment on systemic inflammation, oxidative stress, and pro-inflammatory cytokine levels in 186 hypertensive patients during a 2-month course of treatment have been reported with aim of identifying the possible role of oxidative stress in hypertension. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is hypertensive disorder.
