Ravi V. Shah and colleagues conducted a study on 599 hospitalized heart failure patients and discovered that galectin-3 was positively correlated with age (r = 0.26, p = 0.006) and NT-proBNP concentration (r = 0.39, p < 0.001), while it was negatively correlated with glomerular filtration rate (r = −0.42, p < 0.001) and positively correlated with NT-proBNP concentration (r = 0.39, p < 0.001). Here, LGALS3 is linked to heart failure.
