This evidence is complemented by that reported by Shang et al. (2017), who showed that quercetin can induce apoptosis in gastric cancer AGS cells by increasing the concentrations of proapoptotic proteins such as Bad, Bax, and Bid while decreasing the levels of Mcl-1, Bcl-2, and Bcl-x, which are antiapoptotic proteins. The gene discussed is BAX; the disease is gastric cancer.
