Recently, experimental studies have revealed that NLRP3 inflammasome is significantly involved in the pathogenesis and progression of autoimmune diseases, for instance, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic sclerosis (SSc), Sjogren’s syndrome (SS), and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) [1,5,6]. This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and Sjogren syndrome.
