When the upper quartile was used as the cutoff, patients with low nuclear NICD expression had approximately a two times higher recurrence rate compared to patients with high nuclear NICD expression (HR = 1.745, 95% CI = 0.3176 to 9.591) (Figure 4D), suggesting that the higher expression of active NOTCH1 may delay or inhibit metastatic recurrence in melanoma patients.
