NSAIDs are able to induce the apoptosis of cancer cells also through the downregulation of B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2), an anti-apoptotic protein that regulates mitochondrial thiol reduction and further regulates the mitochondrial permeability of apoptotic proteins such as apoptotic protease activating factor 1 (Apaf-1). Here, APAF1 is linked to cancer.
