ALOX12 and cancer: Contursi et al. [33] have recently shown that in the coculture of platelets and HT29 cells, platelet-derived mEVs can transfer platelet-type 12-lipoxygenase(LOX) (protein name: arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase, 12S-type; gene name: ALOX12) to cancer cells that acquire the capacity to generate 12S-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (HETE) mainly being esterified in membrane phospholipids.
