The semi-quantitative result, which is quantified on a staining intensity/cell-area (the presence of cells in area which do not express any markers is weighted against cells in area which do express markers) basis, shows that KYSE30 expressed CD44 much more highly in the dynamic and static cultures, compared to FFPE-ESCC (Figure 5D), given that only some of the cells in the FFPE-ESCC samples expressed the CD44 marker, while all of the cells in the static and dynamic cultures expressed CD44. This evidence concerns the gene CD44 and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
