To our best knowledge, no previous studies have been conducted on the role played by body composition and the aforementioned cytokines and I-FABP on the functional exercise capacity, respiratory function, and QoL of COPD patients, therefore, we conducted this pilot study to better identify their role in the pulmonary function and in mental health and quality of life of COPD patients in comparison to the matched healthy subjects. Here, FABP2 is linked to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
