Regarding CEACAM5 and the role of carcinoembryonic (CEA) related cell adhesion molecules (CEACAMs) 1, 5 and 6 in progression of solid tumours (such as colorectal, lung, melanoma, breast, liver) including pancreatic cancer is well established, and their expression varies between different tumour histological subtypes43–45. The gene discussed is CEACAM5; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
