Both NLRP3 and NLRC4 inflammasomes have been shown to be involved in neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis (Liu and Chan, 2014; Freeman et al., 2017; Soares et al., 2019; Saadi et al., 2020; Sebastian-Valverde et al., 2021).
