In vitro hypomethylation of FOXF1 is able to increase its expression, thus inhibiting cell apoptosis induced by cisplatin, promoting cell proliferation and the expression of stem cell characteristics and self-renewal ability, which also suggests that it could be a prognostic biomarker of platinum-based chemotherapy resistance in NSCLC [54].
