IGHE and anaphylaxis: The aims of AIT for induction of tolerance are, ideally, to (1) induce immunological tolerance by administering a preparation that limits the risk of cross-linking IgE and hence anaphylaxis; (2) induce long term tolerance; (3) reduce the levels of Th2 responses specific for the allergen; (4) increase levels of Foxp3 + Tregs and IL-10-secreting Tr1 cells responding to the allergen; (5) increase the ratio of IgG4:IgE- secreting B cells so as to increase levels of blocking antibodies.
