In colorectal cancer cell lines, concomitant with repressing cell proliferation, STK25 inhibits glycolysis by reducing expression of glycolysis enzymes, such as Glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1), Hexokinase 2 (HK2), Pyruvate kinase isozyme M2 (PKM2), lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA), and pyruvate dehydrogenase 1 (PDHK1), at the mRNA and protein level (Wu et al. 2018). The gene discussed is PKM; the disease is colorectal cancer.
