The Dapagliflozin and Prevention of Adverse Outcomes in Heart Failure (DAPA-HF) trial and The Empagliflozin Outcome Trial in Patients with Chronic Heart Failure and Reduced Ejection Fraction (EMPEROR-Reduced) trial revealed that two sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors, dapagliflozin and empagliflozin, reduce the risk of cardiovascular death or HF exacerbation, regardless of the presence or absence of DM [14,15]. The gene discussed is SLC5A2; the disease is diabetes mellitus.
