When VAI was analyzed as a categorical variable, compared with the top VAI quartile, subjects in the third quartile (Q3) had the highest risk for HF (OR 1.55 [95% CI 1.24–1.94]), adjusting for age, sex, race, hypertension, DM, smoking, alcohol, CHD, kidney disease, liver disease, eGFR, SBP, DBP, UA, Alb, HGB, HCT, and NLR. This evidence concerns the gene ALB and hypertensive disorder.
