Initial work on tau-labeled tracers in FTD has primarily been in patients harboring the MAPT mutation as they are known to have tau-related pathology; however, TDP-43-related syndromes have also demonstrated uptake with the basal and medial frontal lobes, inferior and lateral temporal lobes and temporal poles, and anterior cingulate cortex with the most involved regions varying by disease subtype [164, 165]. Here, MAPT is linked to frontotemporal dementia.
