Centromere protein (CENP) has been identified as an autoantibody target in human disease and autoantibodies against CENPA, CENPB and CENPC have been considered relatively specific biomarkers for calcinosis, Raynaud’s phenomenon, esophageal dysmotility, sclerodactyly, and telangiectasia (CREST) syndrome [24].
