Second, CXCL5, a chemokine involved in recruitment of myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) to the tumor microenvironment64–67 and associated with poor survival in renal, liver, pancreatic, and cervical cancer68, showed a statistical decrease in tumor-bearing mice that responded to treatment (long-term survivors) compared with tumor-bearing mice that failed treatment (non-survivors) three weeks post 4T1 FUGW-FL tumor implantation (Fig. 4a, b, right panel, Supplementary Table 6). The gene discussed is CXCL5; the disease is neoplasm.
