As sequencing of the SB Ad3.1 hiPSC cell line revealed heterozygosity for the common type 2 diabetes-associated RREB1 variant rs9379084 (c.3511G>A, p.Asp1171Asn), RREB1WT/WT cell lines were genetically edited to be homozygous for the major allele at rs9379084, which is associated with a higher risk of type 2 diabetes (c.3511G, p.Asp1171Asp) (ESM Fig. 4a). Here, RREB1 is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
