IL1B and atherosclerosis: While it still remains to be determined if secreted IL‐1β during primary senescence can paracrinely activate secondary senescence both in vitro and in vivo, our findings suggest that secondary senescecne induced by IL‐1β in human ECs and/or VSMCs might be one of the machnisms that contribute to the accumulation of senescent cells, which could lead to atherosclerosis and its complications.
