GPX4 and cancer: In agreement, recent work found that cancer cells were able to evade ferroptosis caused by xCT inhibition or GPX4 inhibition via activation of the NRF2-ARE pathway, and the inhibition of NRF2 can reverse the resistance to ferroptotic cell death 13, 76, reinforcing the notion that NRF2 plays a critical role in mediating the resistance to GPX4-dependent ferroptosis.
