More than 170 groups of biomarkers have been identified for the assessment of sepsis, including indicators such as PCT, CRP, TNF-α/IL-6, MCP-1, and miRNA6–8, however, different biomarkers play different roles in the pathophysiology of sepsis, and the misuse of certain biomarkers will lead to overdiagnosis and overuse of drugs such as antibiotics9–11.
