CXCL8 and cystic fibrosis: Interestingly, targeting the translation initiation region of the essential acpP gene in P. aeruginosa by a known growth-inhibiting (RX)6B-PNA conjugate54 was found to exert a concomitant strong inhibition of expression of pro-inflammatory chemokines and cytokines (i.e. IL-8, IL-6, G-CSF, IFN-γ, IP-10, MCP-1 and TNF-α)in IB3-1 cystic fibrosis cells infected by P. aeruginosa PAO1.
