The relationship between osteoclast-inducing cytokines released by carcinomas, such as parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-6, and IL-11, and bone invasion in patients with OSCC has been reported.[11–14] However, there have been no reports on the relationship between vertical carcinoma invasion, precisely, progression to the bone marrow, or limitation to the cortical bone. Here, PTHLH is linked to carcinoma.
