APOE and dementia: In the low or normal risk groups (APOE ε4 dosage = 0 or 1), walking pace was significantly associated with a lower risk of new-onset dementia (brisk vs. slow: HR, 0.55; 95%CI: 0.48–0.63), while in the high-risk group (APOE ε4 dosage = 2), walking pace was not significantly associated with the risk of new-onset dementia (brisk vs. slow: HR, 1.14; 95%CI: 0.77–1.68) after multivariate adjustments (model 1) (Fig. 1).
