Liese et al.21 have used the RRR method on plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) and fibrinogen biomarkers to derive DPs, and they identified a DP that was predictive of T2DM which was characterized by a high intake of red meat, fried potatoes, tomato vegetables, dried beans, low-fiber bread and cereal, eggs, cheese, and low intake of wine. Here, SERPINE1 is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
