Imbalance of the RAS system, over-activation of ACE/Angiotensin II (AngII)/Angiotensin II receptor type 1(AT1) pathway and dysfunctional ACE2/Ang (1-7)/Mas pathway have been related to the pathogenesis of several neurodegenerative diseases such as AD and PD, as well as multiple sclerosis (MS) (Abiodun and Ola, 2020; Li et al., 2020; Méndez-García et al., 2022). This evidence concerns the gene AGT and Parkinson disease.
