Defective FAT/CD36 protein has been related to several health problems as obesity, intestinal fat malabsorption, kidney disease, lipotoxic cardiomyopathy, impaired fatty acid metabolism, glucose intolerance, atherosclerosis, arterial hypertension, diabetes, cardiomyopathy, Alzheimer’s disease, and multiple sclerosis [41,42,65]. The gene discussed is CD36; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
