HMGB1 overexpression has been associated with resistance to cisplatin treatment in human cancer cervical cells [40], non-small-cell lung cancer [41], neuroblastoma [42] and osteosarcoma [23,43], by mechanisms of cell autophagy, a fundamental lysosomal process that confers stress tolerance and inhibits apoptosis.
