Although the pathogenesis of AD remains misunderstood, neurofibrillary tangles (NFT) formation, amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaques formation, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation linked to lipoxygenase (LOX) overexpression, and cholinergic transmission impairment are the main hallmarks of AD, rendering the pathology multifactorial [3,4,5]. This evidence concerns the gene LOX and Alzheimer disease.
