The network of upstream regulators and genes (ITFA3, MSR1, SDC2, IGFBP3, CD209, TGFB2, DYSF, FCGR2A, SPP1, CD36, FN1, and PLIN2) play a significant role in atherosclerosis by controlling the binding of epithelial cells, cell spreading, adhesion of immune cells, homing of cells and fatty acid metabolism (Figure 6). This evidence concerns the gene CD36 and atherosclerosis.
