Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a multifactorial neurodegenerative disorder, which is characterized by a number of hallmarks, such as cerebral deposition of amyloid β-protein (Aβ) and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) formed by tau protein, neuroinflammation and loss of cholinergic neurons [1,2]. The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
