In a mouse model of allergic asthma induced by ovalbumin (OVA), both systemic and mucosal administrations of HP-NAP inhibited eosinophil infiltration in lungs and Th2-mediated bronchial inflammation by reducing the OVA-induced production of Th2 cytokines, including IL-4, IL-5, and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluids and the level of IgE in serum and BAL fluids [67].
