Significantly reduced efficacy of venetoclax was reported in BAX-deficient CLL patients with C-terminal BAX mutations who received long-term treatment with venetoclax (Blombery et al. 2020), resulting in elimination of external mitochondrial membrane localization of BAX and induction of resistance to venetoclax (Blombery et al. 2022). Here, BAX is linked to B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
