The luciferase assay suggested that rs1047840G>A alters the binding of miRNA and consequently increases the expression level of EXO1. These findings suggest that the two SNPs, especially EXO1 rs1047840G>A, could be used as potential biomarkers to predict therapeutic outcomes in lung adenocarcinoma patients treated with pemetrexed chemotherapy, which may help to establish an optimal personalized treatment strategy. The gene discussed is EXO1; the disease is lung adenocarcinoma.
