Behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD) is a highly genetic and heterogeneous clinical syndrome characterized by early and prominent deterioration of behavior, which includes impaired social interactions, disinhibition, apathy, and impairment in adaptive functioning, and the main causal genes are mutations of the microtubule-associated protein tau (MAPT) gene, especially in China [1–3]. The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is behavioral variant of frontotemporal dementia.
