DDIT4 can act as a tumor suppressor in colorectal cancer (Wang et al., 2015), breast cancer (Horak et al., 2010), and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC; Jin et al., 2011) by inhibiting mTORC1, and can also play a pro-cancer role in ovarian cancer (Chang et al., 2018), bladder urothelial carcinoma (Zeng et al., 2018) and gastric cancer (Du et al., 2018) by reducing apoptosis. Here, DDIT4 is linked to bladder transitional cell carcinoma.
