There were no significant differences in clinical characteristics, haemodialysis condition and laboratory measurements (reticulocyte, haptoglobin, transferrin saturation, ferritin, incidence of iron deficiency, intact parathyroid hormone, C-reactive protein, serum calcium, serum phosphorus and albumin) between the two groups, but erythrocyte creatine content was significantly higher in Group 1 compared to Group 2 (2.47 ± 0.74 versus 1.57 ± 0.49 μmol/gHb, P = 0.0001). This evidence concerns the gene CRP and nutritional disorder.
