A significant positive correlation (Spearman’s r=0.85, p=0.006) was observed between HBV viral load and YBX1 expression in liver tissues from nine HBV-infected patients (GSE14322) (figure 8A),25 suggesting that YBX1 may be a clinically relevant factor for HBV infection.30 Indeed, higher expression of YBX1 in the livers from patients with surgically resected HBV-related HCC was associated with significantly higher probability of tumour recurrence after the resection (figure 8B) and eventually lower long-term overall survival rate (figure 8C). The gene discussed is YBX1; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
