The TLR family plays an essential role in AP by supporting recognition of conserved structures of microorganisms by immune cells and promoting SIRS to induce tissue damage; however, the effects of TLR2 in AP remain controversial (Awla et al., 2011; Gorskii et al., 2014; Lee and Papachristou, 2019). Here, TLR2 is linked to systemic inflammatory response syndrome.
