INS and polycystic ovary syndrome: A study of DHEA-induced PCOS rats found that the fasting blood glucose (FBG), fasting insulin (FIS), Homeostasismodel Assessment (HOMA) index [HOMA-IR = FBG (mmol/L) × FIS (mU/L) ÷ 22.5] (Aleshin et al., 1998), and insulin levels at 30, 60, and 120 min post-meal in the DHEA-induced PCOS group were all significantly higher compared with the control group, and 57.1% of PCOS model rats were diagnosed with IR (Wang et al., 2017).
