Apart from advanced age, having a first-degree family history (FH) of late-onset sporadic AD [2, 3] and carrying the Apolipoprotein E ɛ4 allele (APOE4) [4, 5] are well-documented non-modifiable risk factors for the development of AD and thus represent target populations to promote strategies aimed at ameliorating their consequences. The gene discussed is APOE; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
