CRP and metabolic syndrome: In the overall study population, male sex (71 vs 56%, p = 0.04), dyslipidemia (54 vs 34%, p = 0.003), hyperleukocytosis (6.8 vs 6, p = 0.005), elevated CRP (93 vs 60, p = 0.03) and increased T-troponin level (23 vs 15, p = 0.0007) were associated with early ICU admission or death.
