Previous studies found that the NMDAR‐mediated ERK1/2‐CREB signaling pathway is the key to controlling the antiapoptotic Bcl‐2 protein family in blocking cell apoptosis (Ninomiya et al., 2010), and the survival rate of neurons in the hippocampal CA1 region of rodents with cerebral ischemia is positively associated with the levels of p‐ERK and pCREB (Zhan et al., 2013). This evidence concerns the gene MAPK3 and brain ischemia.
