Won et al found that patients with colon cancer had significantly fewer MAIT cells in peripheral blood, whereas tumor tissue had more MAIT cells than adjacent normal tissue.61, 62, 63, 64 Circulating MAIT cells exhibited high levels of CCR6 and CXCR6, suggesting that the high frequency of MAIT cells in tumor tissues was associated with the migration of peripheral blood MAIT cells into colon cancer tissues.64 This evidence concerns the gene CXCR6 and malignant colon neoplasm.
