We discovered a non-linear relationship between BMI and risk of unfavorable outcomes in AIS patients using the GAM and smooth curve fitting (adjusted sex, age, LDL-c, HGB, TG, HCT, AST, ALT, BUN, HBA1C, FIB, ALB, hypertension, stroke etiology, atrial fibrillation, previous stroke or TIA, smoking status, DM, and NIHSS score) (Figure 5).
