When assessing endometrial cancer cells using cell invasion assays and statistical analysis, Lipsey et al. (Lipsey et al., 2016) found that Notch, IL-1, and leptin crosstalk outcome (NILCO) was more highly expressed in type II endometrial cancer, the more aggressive form, not type I. Moreover, leptin-induced invasion of endometrial carcinoma cells was significantly reduced in the presence of an inhibitor (Daley-Brown et al., 2017). The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is endometrial cancer.
