GAMT and Cachexia: The qPCR results showed that the mRNA expression levels of Gamt and Gatm, two key rate-limiting enzymes for creatine synthesis, were decreased in liver tissues of mice in the cachexia group and increased in liver tissues of mice in the cachexia + Cr group compared with the NC group, suggesting that creatine supplementation could restore the impaired creatine synthesis capacity in the liver (Figure 4A).
